 Dean Stone with Bird's Prescription Corner told Kiwanians about Medicare's new Prescription Drug Plan (Medicare Part D). This plan goes into effect on January 1, 2006 and people have until May 15, 2006 to sign up without penalty. You can begin signing up after November 15, 2005. He encouraged people to ask their friends, doctors, and other health care professionals like their personal pharmacist if they have questions. He stated that people have a choice when choosing their Medicare prescription drug coverage. Stone also warned that people should guard their social security numbers, credit card numbers and bank account numbers to avoid scams and fraud.
