Elon Flack attended the Kiwanis Club to present a program on a medical mission trip he took to Brazil with the First United Methodist Church of Statesboro. A group of twelve was in his group, two from Metter, two from Augusta and eight people from Statesboro. With all the crew and Brazilian team members, there were nearly 30 people on their boat. They flew into Maues, a city of about 40,000 people. From there they traveled to Manaus, 250 miles downstream the Amazon River. Manaus is a large city of 2 million people. From there the group traveled another 50 miles down Amazon tributaries to reach 4 villages. The villages varied in size from 50 to 400 people. Approximately 400 villagers were treated for medical and dental problems in 5 days. Mr. Flack is shown with Kiwanian Flem Cliett (left) and the new Kiwanis President, Dustin Durden (right).
