Metter Chief of Police, Randy Ellison presented the program for the May 8th Kiwanis meeting. He spoke to the group about the growing problem of identity theft. There were 207 reported cases of identity theft in Candler County last year. Chief Ellison stressed the importance of protecting personal information and shared some tips on how to safeguard one′s identity from would be identity thieves. If you feel your personal information has been compromised, contact the police to file a police report and also call the three major credit bureaus, Equifax (800-685-111), TransUnion (800-888-4213), and Experian (888-397-3742) to issue a fraud alert on your credit file.
