Rebekah C. Revels, Nurse Manager with Candler County Health Dept., was the
guest speaker at the Metter Kiwanis Club meeting. She informed the group about
strokes, including the symptoms of strokes and stroke prevention. Symptoms for
strokes include sudden numbness or weakness of face, arm, or leg, especially on
one side of the body, sudden confusion or trouble speaking, loss of
coordination, trouble seeing in one or both eyes, and/or severe headache. There
is a higher risk for stroke in people with high blood pressure, high
cholesterol, diabetes, and in people that smoke or are overweight. Mrs. Revels
