Kiwanian Marcille Bird invited her neighbor, Ron Jones, to speak to the club.
Mr. Jones is the Director of International Student Recruitment for Georgia
Southern University. His job is to travel to foreign countries to market GSU to
potential students in hopes of bringing them to Statesboro to attend the
university. GSU has recently become more stringent in their admission
requirements. The student population is now over 17,000 and the minimum SAT
score is 1000. Georgia Southern has 8 colleges that include 120 majors. Ron was
hired in a newly created position to expand the diversity of the student
population and to market the University internationally. Mr. Jones chose to live
in Metter because of the small town atmosphere and says that he loves the
community of Metter and Candler County.
